NeuroDevNet - GRAND Workshop, When Virtual Meets Reality-Part 2
NeuroDevNet - GRAND Workshop
"When Virtual Meets Reality-Part 2"
May 14-15, 2011
Keynote Address: Dr. Jocelyn Faubert, University of Montreal, Director of the Laboratory of Psychophysics and Visual Perception
Preamble: NeuroDevNet and GRAND are two newly created Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCEs) that began operations in 2010. Very early in the existence of both NCEs, a common research interest centering on the use of emerging computer and gaming technologies as novel therapeutics for neurodevelopmental disorders was identified. An initial workshop, When Virtual Meets Reality, held in Ottawa in June, 2010 brought together investigators and trainees from NeuroDevNet and GRAND to explore existing and potential new research collaborations that might be established between the two NCEs. As a direct consequence of that workshop, a number of research proposals were submitted to NeuroDevNet’s Opportunities Initiative in response to an open call for innovative and interdisciplinary projects that fit the mandate of NeuroDevNet.
This workshop will be attended by Principal Investigators, Co-Investigators, Collaborators and key trainees (senior PhD student or post doc) who recently received joint funding from NeuroDevNet and GRAND through the Opportunities Initiative Program.
Goals of the Workshop: This workshop is designed to achieve two major goals: (1) Establish lines of communication between investigators and trainees involved in the individual projects and increase understanding of the common themes that link all of the projects; (2) Establish a mechanism, timelines and milestones to achieve a true integration of the research projects.
