Knowledge Translation
Knowledge production, transfer, and application are key components of the research process. Our project will help build capacity for knowledge translation in the demonstration projects, will share knowledge between projects, and will review and synthesize existing research on neurological disorders.
The goal of the Knowledge Translation (KT) Core is to partner with our researchers in the projects to create a learning community within NeuroDevNet, where KT is embedded and is integral into the research process. Together researchers, trainees, decision makers, and other interested stakeholders will collaborate to improve awareness of ASD, CP and FASD, their treatment and management, and share new knowledge created from NeuroDevNet’s research.
We target the results of our research to specific groups of stakeholders in the form of fact sheets, announcements, media releases and other appropriate mechanisms, using print and online strategies. We also prepare synthesis documents, synthesizing current knowledge and best practices related to the work of the projects covering diagnosis, as well as clinical and patient care. Synthesized knowledge is fed back into NeuroDevNet’s dissemination mechanisms for distribution within the Network and to external stakeholders by various means including best practices, fact sheets, posters at stakeholder events, etc.
Successful KT is all about relationships and the Knowledge Translation Core is also focused on assisting projects with their KT efforts by providing training opportunities, guidance and support to enhance KT activities in the projects and across NeuroDevNet, and to strengthen their networking activities and capacity at the local level.
